Word read only on Android tablet
« on: Saturday 03 July 21 15:42 BST (UK) »
If I create a Word document on my tablet I can save it , and then go back later and edit it.
I have emailed a document to myself which I created with Word on my desktop , saved it ,but cannot edit it on my tablet. It says Read Only.
Both are docx.
Can anyone help please.

If one opens a 'Read Only' Word Document, the trick is to 'Save As', and rename the File Document, in this case on Your Tablet. When the re named File is re opened, it should now be Editable.

On Your Desk Top, You probably have the Word Documents set as 'Read Only', when they are Emailed. This can be reset, to remove this option.

Well, the rename and save works on the tablet
I'll have to check on my desktop about read only.
Thanks a lot.

Good, happy it worked. Just to add, the 'Re Name and Save'  can be prevented by setting a Password on the 'Read Only' option.

The Microsoft Link explains.
