This is all very confusing but I think the fellow who died in 1909, Thomas F. aka Frank is the son of our couple. It is of some concern that sometimes the parents' place of birth is given as Ireland and sometimes as Wales, but I have thought there was only one John White and Katherine Tobin couple. There seems to be a John White and Katherine Ward couple which seems to be intermixed with this couple. When Katherine Tobin remarries to Michael Hennessy, I think she says she is from Wales so perhaps John was from Ireland and Katherine from Wales. Maybe I should pay more attention in case there are two John White/Katherine Tobin families but I haven't thought so, so far.
I think you have followed Frank and his wife and their doctor son correctly.

Catherine Hennessy's death certificate says she was born in Wales but both her parents were born in Ireland.
1880 census - John and Catherine - Lackawanna, both born Ireland, John is 30, Kate 25, John is laborer, children Thomas 7, Kate 5, Patrick 3, John 1.
1900 census -  John and Catherine - Lackawanna, both born Wales, parents born Ireland, John is 48, Katherine is 45, John is coal miner, children John age 21, James 15, Edmund 12, Joseph 8, Frank 6, Robert E. 3.
1910 Census - John deceased, Katherine with Michael Hennessy, both born Wales, Michael is 42, Katherine is 55, children Edward is 22, married for 3 years, Margaret McGettrick is 21, married for 2 years (she is actually 29, married 10 years), Joseph is 18, Frank 16, Robert 14.
1920 census - don't find couple but Katherine may or may not be living in Philadelphia, widow, age 72.
Catherine dies 1923 in Scranton, born 1856 in Wales, says widow, age 66. William Smith is informant who is married to Catherine's daughter Margaret formerly McGettrick.
Michael is living with stepson Frank in 1930, Frank age 35, parents born Wales.
Michael dies 1937.
I still think same family. Ages pretty consistent for John and Catherine, except for possible Catherine in 1920 which may not be her. I think possibly Catherine and Michael were separated in 1920 but would  love it if someone could find them. Also would love to find John White's death abt 1901, as per 1910 census. And Catherine's remarriage to Michael Hennessy abt 1902.

Today, I found Catherine quite easily with Michael Hennessy, he is 55 born Wales, she is 67 born Pennsylvania. Boarder is Robert E., age 23, who is her son.

The body of a William McGettrick was found in a hotel room in Clinton, Reading, Berks, PA on Feb 22, 1928. Very little was known about this man at the time other than his name and a deputy coroner's report was issued at the time and the body was turned over to the Anatomical Board of Philadelphia. I wonder if further info was found regarding William and if a more complete death certificate would be issued.
I phoned the Anatomical Board this morning and await a reply.

Yes, Bill has made contact with me and he has contributed much with regard to William McGettrick although we are uncertain at this point whether he died before Margaret married William Smith or if they divorced. I think I found William McGettrick in 1920 in West Deer Township and he says married. He is a blacksmith as was Margaret's husband at time of marriage. I wish I knew how to send the link but here goes.
