Virginia ... Why did she use surname Gee when she died.
Peggy
Because it was her children's name, maybe.
Alfred was b 9 Apr 1920, baptized in Philadelphia as a Lutheran, son of Joseph Gee and Virginia Gee
died 14 Jan 1984
buried Riverside National Cemetery

So sorry oldohiohome. I see it was you who updated info about Lillian Hallowell, and Benjamin, and Virginia. Thanks so much.
Good pickup about Lillian Everall on 1920 census, same residence as Julia Watterson. Has to be a relative of her mother's. Wonder if Everall is maiden name or married name?
I see Julia was divorced before her death in 1959. The girls seemed to have trouble with their marriages.
And wow, you found Mr. Gee's first name. Great.

you're welcome.
I was thinking the same about the daughters.
and no success with Virginia's marriage to Joseph Gee. end of the line here, at least for tonight.

Here's an interesting news clipping from 1932?

The Philadelphia Inquirer
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Sunday, April 10, 1932
pg: 41

Men Seeks Son and Daughter

Virtually alone in the world, as he asserts, Benjamin Waterson, 1921 East Huntingdon street, this city, yearns for tidings of his son, Benjamin, and daughter, Lillian, neither of whom he has seen or heard from for sixteen years. He is of the belief that they are now in another city.

That is very interesting. He must be out of prison.
I have searched very hard for any newspaper articles about Benjamin‘s first offence in 1911 but have had no luck so far. Thought it might mention if Lizzie was still alive at that time.
Thanks RJ137.

Looking at all this information, I had a sudden thought. When Lillian Hallowell died, she gives her mother's first name as Lillian. On the 1920 census, with Julia Watterson, in the same household is Lillian Everall, age 35, divorced. Could this possibly be her mother, with wrong age, and wrong first name, and last name spelled differently? Would explain why we didn't find Lizzie's death 1910-1920. Perhaps she was trying to distance herself from Benjamin and the tragic situation.
I know it says Lillian's parents born Pennsylvania which is not true, if she is Lizzie, mother of Julia, but it says that same thing for Julia's parents which is also not true. Benjamin was born Ireland and so is Lizzie, as per 1910 census, as were both their parents.
I know it is a wild thought but maybe it is the case. Benjamin says in 1930 he is married, but in 1940, says widowed. If we can possibly rely on that info, Lizzie, possibly Lillian, died 1930-1940.

On the other thread - reply 24 - marriage of Virginia Digney (11 May 1934) it gave the name of the mother as Elizabeth White, maiden name Averill - mother lives Engelwood (possibly Inglewood) California. Housewife.

Perhaps the same Virginia died under Virginia Margaret Gee in Los Angeles - reply 34 previous thread.

Virginia Margaret Gee - Birth Date 5 Jun 1899 Pennsylvania
Death Date 24 Oct 1980 Los Angeles - Mother's Maiden Name Watterman.
