Thank you so much, oldohiohome and Sandra. I do think all of these records relate to Benjamin Watterson, and mostly to the family of James B. White and Mary Martin. The 1910 Census says James married but no wife there. 1920 census has a Mary Meyers above James White - is this Mary Martin, remarried or an error.
When Nellie married in 1920 in Michigan, she doesn't say mother is deceased but Alice says mother deceased Jan 19, 1922 when she married in Michigan and her father gave consent. Did mother Mary die in  Michigan, before 1922, possibly under name Meyers unless that is a red herring on the 1920 and should say Martin. Then death would be under White.
It makes sense that James could be in Omaha in 1910 because his brother Joseph also went to Omaha. Must figure out who Kate Cokran is. Mary's sister?
Thank you ever so much, Sandra and oldohiohome. You are ever so fantastic.

Yes, I was covering the family of James White and Mary Martin today.  Just a reminder that OOH had already given you the Benjamin Watterson information back in reply 7  :)

On the 1910 census I suspect it is not James White but his wife Mary - occupation is housework !!
She is the sister-in-law to the head, so Kate Cokran could be Kate Martin ??

Looking at the 1920 ancestry transcription Mary Meyers is in the household above.  If she does belong to that household something is amiss with her age.

The record for Mary Alice showing mother deceased was because her father had to sign a consent form because she was 16 years old.

OK, on 1910 census for Omaha, I think you are correct Sandra that it should say Mary White instead of James, who is indexed as female, doing housework. Had 6 children, 5 living, last two born Nebraska.
For the 1920 census, I think it is James with the same children, last one son James age 8 so born about 1912. So Mary Martin must have been alive in 1912. When James signs for the draft in 1917, he gives his mother Katherine as next of kin. So, Theory A,  thinking Mary Martin died between 1912 and 1917, maybe in childbirth having James. But then who is Mary Meyers on the 1920. I  believe she is in the same household as James. It says Mother and Father originally on the census and Mary is about the right age to be Mary Martin. If it is her, then theory B is that Mary Martin died in 1920/21, as she is deceased when Alice married in 1922 in Philadelphia, not Michigan. Personally, I am thinking Theory A, which means who is Mary Meyers? Says James and Mary are married but also says his daughter Margaret is married which is not true as she did not marry until 1923. Is Mary Meyers a housekeeper, a lady friend? James remarried in 1923 to Lily Ethel Averell whom I believe is the same person as Lizzie Averell, formerly Watterson.
I did see the info from OOH before, regarding Benjamin Watterson, Jr's death. but doesn't hurt to be reminded in case I missed it, or forgot it, or didn't realize the significance of it.
In the meantime, James remarried in 1932 in Nebraska to Jennie E. Klein, whom is nee Griess, formerly Panagos (1910), formerly Schumacher/Shoemaker (1915),then formerly Klein before the 1930 census when she is a lodger in Omaha. I don't have the exact marriage date for Jennie E. to Klein, or the exact marriage date to James in 1932. But we have narrowed down the split of James and Lily to between their marriage in 1923 and James' remarriage in 1932 to Jennie E. Klein.  I don't find James in 1930 or 1910 for that matter since James is really Mary on the census.
Thanks for everything. I still have to pursue Catherine Cochran, probably nee Martin.

It was an interesting couple of hours finding the White daughters. Pleased it is helping you piece the family together.
Only guess work but I think Mary Martin/White could possibly have died in child birth or after the birth of James.  There was the flu deaths in 1915 (63,000) and 75,000 in the first 6 months of 1918  :-\

Might be worth contacting the find a grave contributor to see if they have more on Catherine Cochran.
It was only a very brief "Mrs. Cochran died in 1956" - The entry was made 13 August 2021, so very recent.

I did find one Kate Cochran in 1956 but unfortunately did not match.

Perhaps the 1910 says Kate Martin is M2 - 4 children !!

Good Luck
