William and Martha Langley
« on: Sunday 04 July 21 21:12 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the deaths/burial of the following

William Langley born abt 1744 in Gillingham
and Martha his wife born abt 1756 (maiden name Elmore) in Chatham
They married and had all their children baptized at St Mary's the Virgin in Chatham, but can't seem to find anything after the birth of their last child Edward Langley in 1785.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks for all those

So looks like Mary the daughter died thank you for that as I was trying locate a marriage. I still can't find anything for daughter Elizabeth. Couple of possible marriages but nothing definite.

I thought I found son Edward in Hoo, Kent in 1841 with a wife Hannah, but their deaths put their age  10 years out of the age on census, so not 100% sure. Both died in 1844. i think Hannah may be Ann?

I do think that death of William Langley (52nd regiment) might be him, but with no age it's hard to confirm. I've been trying to see if there is any military record which might give an year of birth.

There is a Martha Langley death in St James Westminster, and I know some later family ended up there, but no Langleys as far as I am aware, so not 100% sure if this is her yet, until I can pinpoint a Langley ended up in that area.

Son William there are two possibly marriages Elizabeth Costin and Elizabeth Day, I think the one who married Costin is older than my William, so more likely Elizabeth Day marriage. Too many Williams to confirm.

Thank you, I didn't notice the witness Sarah Varralle to Edward Langley and Ann Cusite marriage. Sarah is his sister (she married William Augustus Varrall), so I think I can assume this is her brothers marriage. Might be a cousin too I suppose, but right time for her brother.

I wish it stated whether widow, married or single, as then this would give more clues as to whether her or not, but I think  this is a wife of one William Langley.
