When Ann Mainard Pearce married in 1790, she did not sign, but marked. Her husband signed so it is not one of those cases where it seems the marking happened because the vicar said to do so.

That seems a bit odd to me.
Her brother (?)  ‘Carl’ Was a witness. He signed.

There is Maynard/Knight marriage,  have you investigated it?

Good Afternoon mckha489 thanks for your message, no I haven't seen this marriage, I will have a look, their is a lot of George Knight on Ancestry trees, but they have only 1 child listed, and Sir John Knight 24/11/1613-16/12/1683 is the third son of George Knight.

Janet, his marriage can be found on FreeReg, under Somerset, Long Ashton, the brides's village. The children may have been baptised wherever they subsequently lived, of course, or in a nearby location wherever the vicar happened to be.

It seems to me that you'd fare better researching parish records/archives directly (perhaps via FindMyPast, another subscription site or even Ancestry) rather than taking too much notice of other people's public trees on Ancestry - I've found there are too many inaccuracies, inconsistencies and wild guesses.

I am not sure it is the same person as mentioned in relation to this family tree.

I agree with teragram31510, you need to use original sources such as parish registers and other prime sources. The trees on Ancestry are unreliable.

Good Morning Jo Harding and teragam31510 thanks so much for your help, I only have one subscription with Ancestry at the moment considering another to FindMyPast, most of these web pages now need continuous payment not just a month at a time.
