He was a private in the Durham Light Infantry and then in the Machine Gun Corps

His medal card is here:http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D4998476 No other records apparent at the moment apart from his entry in the Jewry Book of Honour which says he served in 2/5th Battalion DLI.  He must then later have transferred to the MGC.  May be more to find.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

His medal roll entry shows that he was discharged to Class Z Army Reserve on 8th November 1919.

You can roughly work out when he transferred to the MGC.
Formed in late 1915 with numbers starting at 30000.
The first 3000 went to the Motorised MGC so the first
MGC gunner was number 33001.
At it's height there were around 5000 men a month going
through Belton Park.
Your man was the 141,820th.
