Jim - That is excellent, thank you very much. It really helps me to pin-point the action that my Great Uncle William was in and where he died. I had been using the War Diaries and "The Old Sixteenth" as sources, but this gives the location very precisely.

If you go to the Polygon Wood map link I gave you
there is a road that runs along the northern side of the wood
where there is a cluster of houses at the junction.
The last one is now called the Anzac pub & is run by a well
known WW1 historian & archaeologist.
His loft has been converted into a museum & is full of artefacts he has
uncovered over the years.
He is an acknowledged expert on the AIF & holds them in high esteem.
He's been responsible for recovering several Anzacs from the battlefield
& arranging their re-burials.
A very interesting chap who I've had the pleasure of having a few drinks with.
