Downloading the content of PAF files
« on: Friday 09 July 21 04:08 BST (UK) »
Hi ,
I have some family trees that are on a PAF file that I have inherited from my Mother but I am unable to open them .
Just wondering if anyone else has any success with downloading the content from these files .
Thanks in advance .

I'm probably one of the few who still uses PAF.  It does what I need and I've never seen any reason to change.  But it is antiquated and it is no longer possible to download it from FamilySearch.  It is supposedly available for download here:

If you are unable to download PAF 5, the FamilySearch website help page offers other solutions:

FamilySearch support for Personal Ancestral File (PAF) data and software as well as PAF Companion ended July 15, 2013. We no longer offer these products as a download.
Our partners offer alternative software. You can find options in our Solutions Gallery . These third-party products can synchronize with FamilySearch Family Tree and all allow you to import your PAF data.
While you cannot upload PAF data directly into FamilySearch Family Tree, you can still create a GEDCOM file of your PAF data through these third-party products. They are also available for free at most of our family history centers.
