The only way to solve this is to find out where the records from Liegnitz are kept.
Ill see what I can dig up

Just so you get a feeling of whats awaiting you!
Liegnitz (Legnica) had a population of around 64000 people when Hans was born in 1908
about 53000 protestants and 11000 catholics from 6 Churches.
So to find church records you would need to know his religion, where he was resident in Liegnitz and so the relevant church. Like looking for a needle in a haystack

I found the following records for Liegnitz in the State Archives in Breslau (Wroclaw)
much to your disapointment 1908 is not listet.

Urząd Stanu Cywilnego w Legnicy- Registry Office in Legnica

https://www.szukajwarchiwach.gov.pl/de/zespol?p_p_id=Zespol&p_p_lifecycle=1&p_p_state=normal&p_p_mode=view&_Zespol_javax.portlet.action=zmienWidok&_Zespol_nameofjsp=jednostki&_Zespol_id_zespolu=87671

Księga urodzeń tom.. / book births vol..
Księga małżeństw / book marriages
Księga zgonów tom.... / book deaths vol..

You could try searching in the marriage and birth records for potential parents or siblings with the name Lormes. Considering the fact that the files have somwhere between 400 to 1000 records, this could be very time consuming. Lormes is not a common name there.

I had a look at the marriage records 1906/07/08 and found nothing

I sometimes got an error saying „Portlet ist temporär nicht erreichbar“
just change the language, top right, to English then it seems to work

Dave

You could try writing to the authorities in Liegnitz

I think I may have to do it that way Dave. I did have a go at your previous suggestion, but I can't manage to navigate the documents successfully. Thanks, H

Message for Dave Capps..with reference to your post (reply #33 July 2021), I have made some progress with my research but I wanted to revisit your reply #33, to access the links you provided, but I am now unable to open them.
Would you be able to help me again with this?
Many thanks H
