Daubney Saga Mystery?
« on: Wednesday 14 July 21 08:55 BST (UK) »
Hi there everyone,
Hoping that someone can assist in locating an address between 1891 and 1896 for a Daniel Daubney b1855 in Lincoln who left there sometime after 1891 (on census as Daniel Danbury) when it is believed he followed his brother David to Oldham. (David a joiner/cabinet maker on census  there in 1891) Daniel’s daughter Edith was born in Oldham in Dec 1893. Later his son Daniel was born in Bolton in 1898 so we are trying to establish any address for him between 1891 and 1898. He was a Hawker at this time. This research is to form part of a future publication if successful. Many thanks in advance.  Jayhen

I'm thinking surely there should be an address on the children's birth certificates?
Also, a hawker might well travel the roads for much of the year, only returning to the family home occasionally perhaps?
BORCHARDT in Poland/Germany, BOSKOWITZ in Czechoslovakia, Hungary + Austria, BUSS in Baden, Germany + Switzerland, FEKETE in Hungary + Austria, GOTTHILF in Hammerstein + Berlin, GUBLER, GYSI, LABHARDT & RYCHNER in Switzerland, KONIG & KRONER in Germany, PLACZEK, WUNSCH & SILBERBERG in Poland.

Also: ROWSE in Brixham, Tenby, Hull & Ramsgate. Strongman, in Falmouth. Champion. Coke. Eame/s. Gibbons. Passmore. Pulsever. Sparkes in Brixham & Ramsgate. Toms in Cornwall. Waymoth. Wyatt.

Hi, obviously I don’t think the birth certificate for Edith has been obtained as this is a large enquiry. Was wondering if any directories may have listed Daniel. Many thanks

I can’t see a baptism for her on the usual sites.

As they were elsewhere in 1891 and Bolton soon after, the family might have only been in Oldham temporarily. Have you searched for any directories online?

The birth entry on LancsBMD shows her birth in Oldham ‘below town’.

David Daubney and family were in that sub registration district in 1891, so they may have been living with or near them.

Hi, no luck searching online for an Oldham address hence why I posted on here. Maybe we will have to purchase the birth certificate. Thank you

Might be some Oldham school records for children of Daniel and David (don't have access)
Daniel's children?
Fred Daubney born 1881
Maud Daubney born 1883
Admitted to Roundthorn County Primary School in 1892.
