Hi Sarah, I know it’s been 12 months since all this information above was spoken of; however, for some reason I have only just come across it and I wanted to share it with the Step granddaughter. Cienna said she was helping.
I am a granddaughter of Annie Louisa Isabel Ware. Nanna changed her name around a lot as she "hated the name Annie, which was also her mothers name" Nannas youngest brother at the time of her passing said he never knew her first name was Annie as everyone always called her Louie.
Nanna did marry Cyril Jones at St Albans church Armadale on the 29th March 1916 and sadly Cyril was KIA at Fromelles 19th July 1916.
Nanna married John William Smith at St James Manse Fitzroy on 11 Jan 1919 and they had six children, my mother was the youngest before Uncle Pat came along by Pop (Harold Dunn).
John William Smith is buried at Lancefield cemetery. My dad drove Uncle reg (John William Smiths eldest son) to Lancefield to organise the funeral.
Nanna lived with Harold (Pop) and as mentioned, they had one son Patrick Dennis Smith as mentioned above. I believe there was a twelve-year age difference between Nanna and Harold, if Harold’s age is correct on the plaque at the cemetery. Nanna was born on the 25th April 1896 and Harold, going by the plaque of his death being 66 in 1974 makes his birth around 1908.
Nanna left Pop (Harold) the day Uncle Pat was married. Mum has fond memories of Pop (Harold) and loved their time growing up around Hurstbridge on the outskirts of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; however, his history is difficult to follow, and my understanding is, the mother he thought was his, wasn't.
Pop Harold Dunn died 23 Aug 1974 at 66 which would make his birth around 1908; and he is buried at Nichols Point Cemetery, Mildura. I know this to be true as my mum and her stepbrother Patrick Dennis Smith visited to lay flowers.
If what I have written doesn’t break any rules, I am happy for it to be forwarded to the step granddaughter and would love to know more on the Dunn side if she feels comfortable to share.
Kind Regards
Lee
