Help identifying information about distant relative
« on: Friday 16 July 21 22:12 BST (UK) »
Hello, I am hoping someone might help as I have run out of ideas with this line of research.

I am trying to find information about a male called Charles Frederick Williams. However I am drawing a blank at the moment. The part I need to work out is whether he was married and also whether he had children as I am hoping this might answer a question in my research.

I would also be interested to know if he is the same person as sir Charles Frederick Williams who appears to have died bankrupt in January 1845. There does not seam to be much information about him on line I can find which is a little odd as he seams to have been a prominent figure.

What I do know is Charles Frederick Williams was the brother of William Henry Williams (inventor of the Williams tourniquet). I also know that Charles was the recorder of Bridport (and quite probably at one point Ipswich as well) and that he was a kings counsel. I also know that he was christened in November 1774 in Dursley, died January 1845 and that his father was Richard Williams of Dursley.

William Henry Williams is the link to my family.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Bob

But are we missing something here - he was 47 when he married Elizabeth Wyld Brown ?...was this his first marriage - or had he been married before ? - is there any way we can find out if he was a bachelor when he married - and how old was Elizabeth Wyld Brown ?

Of 46 Hyde Park Square don’t think he was bankrupt. Those refs coming up because he was a commissioner of the court of Bankruptcy as previously posted

No he wasn't bankrupt. From what I can make out from the will, it looks rather straight forward. He left everything to his "beloved wife Lady Elizabeth Williams", including the land (farms) he owned in Cornwall. His wife was also named executrix of his will.

Elizabeth Wyld Browne was born 30 Jul 1800, Barrow Shropshire to Ralph Browne Wylde Browne and Mary Ann Whitmore.
I did not find any children for her and Charles F Williams.
