on the 1921 Census they had to give their age in years and months
This is assuming that no porkies were told about their ages  ::)

Let’s stay positive Girl Guide!

At least until proved otherwise… ;D ;)

I pretty much know where my grandparents and great-grandparents were in 1921.

So I'm in no rush to fork out for the 1921 census!

My mother. Born 1908 she went into service at some time, possibly bit too young at 13 but her parents were pretty keen to get rid of their kids asap - second eldest daughter was 'given' to grandmother's sister when she couldn't have kids or at least conceive but was then sent back when she did!. There was the photograph of a large local house in her effects when she died and it must have meant something important to her, it was badly damaged by fire post WW2 and then demolished in 1951. Unfortunately all its estate records including staff records were destroyed in the fire.  If she's still at home then I'll check her two elder sisters who also went into service but as she wasn't particularly close to them I'm kind of uncertain why she have the photo of the house if one or both of them were there.

I'd like to be able to verify where my parents and grandparents were in 1921.  Gut feeling is Halifax, but at some stage my grandparents moved to Cheshire - when?  AND I'm nosey  :-[
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

It’ll be the first census my parents will appear on and although I know where they’ll be it’ll be interesting to see them.

I know where my mother and her family were in 1921 - the same house I was brought up in! I think it will be most useful in my local history research - I often find myself wondering what happened in the gap between 1911 and 1939.

First stop for me will be my Grandad and his family. Hoping to pin down who his step mother was and where she was from.

By 1921 I will (should  ;D) be able to see all four of my grandparents.

Great to have something to look forward to.

My Mum and Dad of course, but also my father's only known full first cousin on his father's side. I thought she was an only child because the only one we visited, but the 1939 gave us a full sister, and a contact made on her father's side found that there maybe up to four more! All in the same sub-district, but this is the Welsh borders and the usual superabundant Welsh surnames. I'm a patient man.
