Elias Townend and Hanna Wood Emley
« on: Sunday 18 July 21 16:04 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am looking for the baptism records of the children of Elias Townend and his wife Hannah, the ones I have found are all in Emley around the 1740s.

Specifically I am looking for a son named John who appears on several Ancestry trees, but I can find no actual record of his birth to this couple.

I can see numerous trees with John, son of Elias.  However, the transcription of Emley PR, by Huddersfield FHS have the person baptised on 9 October 1737 as George, son of Elias and Hannah.  Ancestry images for Emley start in 1754.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Yes, weird isn't it?

I don't understand where this John has appeared from.

Thank you, that ties in with my findings.

I don’t think Jonas is John, Jonas married Elizabeth Wadsworth in 1762 in Emley.

The John I am looking at married Sarah Russel in 1767 in Emley.
