Thanks for the FS updated link - glad to know it works at your end, but at my end the pidgeons are refusing to cooperate. FS sends me off to one of their local centres.
Nevermind, I may get to the library later today to retry both FS, FindMyPast and Ancestry.

Many thanks for your help anyway, it is gratefully received.

Are you signed in to FS?
I know last week when there was a blank instead of the info, I had to click on ‘sign in’ and the page was fine.
I didn’t have to re- sign just click it.
Now, though, it is ok.
Good luck.

Many thanks for those directions. I did find 1851, 1871 and now 1881 results. I had access to the library computers.
Could not - again! - find the 1841 Census. Tried as many tricks as possible but still no response from Ancestry, FindMyPast. Didn't have time to check FS
1841 there will be no Walter, but there should be:
Edwin Withers, b1805, perhaps: tea merchant?, tobocco?, twine? or rope?.
wife: Sarah
son William E  age 3
dau  Clara age 1
may have been living at Ravenhurst street. Not sure, that's part of what I would like to find out

Many thanks
David

Thank you very much.
Yes, Elizabeth, his mother, had taken control of the family fortune when her husband, Edward Weston W, died in 1819. So she rushed to London and was given authority over the estate valued at 800 pounds.
She could afford to live in Ravenhurst st, I think she took in her daughter with her.

Many thanks again
David
