BendigoGraves resources
« on: Friday 23 July 21 04:36 BST (UK) »
I was interested as to whether anyone researching in the area of Bendigo, Victoria has purchased the Bendigo and Regional Cemeteries USB from Bendigo Graves.  If so, just seeing if you thought it was user-friendly and worth the money.  There aren't too many graves listed on findagrave of billiongraves, so I thought this might make up for it

Thanks for your time.
Stay safe.

Also:- Byrne / Tyrrell - Dublin

I Am not sure what the USB is, but Bendigo Cemeteries Index is online
https://www.rpcv.com.au/cemeteries/bendigo/

I have a cd of photos of monuments at some of the regional cemeteries there.

Thanks,  Sue.
According to the website, the USB will contain 42,000 photos and full index up to 2014.
I had seen the site you provided the link to but I was hoping some headstones would reveal who else may be buried with the family members.
It also has info from the 4 other main cemeteries in the area.

I see it. Thanks.
It sounds comprehensive, but it is a bit expensive!!

They were my thoughts too.
I may just have to do a weekend trip once lockdown restrictions and winter are out of the way.

www.rpcv.com.au/deceased-search/
This might be a bit slow depending on how common the name is, but I have used this method and it works.
Search for a person (first and last name) and record the grave details, then search again for just the last name and check grave details for each entry to find those buried together.

Thanks urnert, I followed up the rpcv link  after Sparret posted it last week. My man is not listed. I was hoping some headstones photos might reveal he is there and there was an omission in registering his burial.

with my experience of cemeteries in central Victoria their burial registers are well maintained. I know there are hundreds and hundreds of graves with no markers at all. I live in Bendigo. I would be more than happy to take a look at any other records which are available locally eg hospitals if you give me a name

Thank you for your kind offer, Urnert.
My man is James Richards - no confirmed DoB, he was 'born on a voyage from Wales'. Gave his age as 22 at his marriage in 1878.
Also, can't find his death - believed to be alive in 1914 when details are given as NOK for his son in Military documents.  However, in 1914 disappears from the family home and records. His wife, Rebecca Richards(was Harry Nee Williams) dies in 1925 and is buried in Bendigo. There are many Richards /Harry /Williams all in Bendigo Cemetery.
His son, James Henry Richards died in 1936, he too is buried there.
