Death records for 2020
« on: Friday 23 July 21 06:33 BST (UK) »
I have just heard via the grapevine that a friend of mine has died in 4Q 2020. The GRO records only go to 2019 as far as I can see. Does anyone know of finding records for 2020? Looked for obit in local paper etc..no joy. I am in Gozo and he died in the UK just to added to the problem.
Appreciate any advice. Thank you David

Here in the UK death are registered in the region the person died in. This many be where he/she lived or may be further away if he/she did in hospital or away from home.
I would suggest you search Google for his/her local Registrar's office and if not successful search the surrounding areas.

Bear in mind the local Registrar will notify the Superintendent Registrar in the months of January, April, July and October of deaths in the preceding three months. This could mean a late 2020 death is only just appearing on the Superintendent Register Records and will not be on the GRO indexes for a while.

Cheers
Guy

If they left a will and it has gone to probate it should already show on the probate index as it is up to date

These wills are available for £1.50
