Thanks ShaunJ was beginning to doubt myself.
Someone had this photo for Pte 15148 J J Scholes saying he enlisted into Manchesters lied about his age and was dismissed. Which isn't what the Medal Card and Enlistment papers say.

Yes definitely a commissioned officer by his uniform. Cannot see his rank as rank insignia was worn on lower sleeve back then. Great photo.
