William Keeler (Keley; Keeley) 52nd Regiment of Foot c1850s
« on: Sunday 25 July 21 18:52 BST (UK) »
I would appreciate any help in tracing William Keeler (sometimes recorded as Keley; Keeley).  I do not know when and where he was born and raised.  On 4 June 1851, William Keeler, a corporal in the 52nd Regiment of Foot, married Anne Rust in Limerick, Ireland.  He lived in New Barracks [today Sarsfield Barracks] in Limerick, and she was living in Colony Street, Limerick, occupation dress maker.

William Keley is recorded as a corporal in the 52nd (The Oxfordshire) Regiment Of Foot, regimental number 2046, in Limerick in the British Army, Worldwide Index 1851 (01/01/1851-31/03/1851).

His two sons' births are recorded in the Gro Regimental Birth Indices as William Bird Keley born Dublin in 1852, and John Robert Keley born Umballa, India, in 1854.  The father seems to have died before the 1861 England Census, in which his widow Ann is recorded as living with her parents in Gressenhall, Norfolk, with her son John R Keeley.  The marriage records of both sons list their father as a British Army officer.
