William BYRNE Royal Marines
« on: Monday 26 July 21 00:54 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone I'm hoping to find some more details on my above GG Uncle who joined the Royal Marines in Dublin 1797 at the age of 17.  I am now tracking his movements which take me to Devon.

He married Catherine Dinan on the 17th of December 1806, by banns, at St Andrews which I believe is C of E??  He was part of the 4th Division (Catham).

Firstly I would like to find any Catholic baptisms for this couple while they lived in Plymouth and/or any newspaper reports re the ships he served on or any thing else relevant.

From his Attestation papers he served a total of 24 years.  He enlisted 5th June 1797 in Dublin.

1798 Catham Division Effective list on shore @ PLYMOUTH Private William Byrne May 20-August 25 From Whence - Captain Embarked on Triumph.  30 day's hospital.  Any help in finding some extra bits of information on him would be wonderful.  Many thanks Dianna

HI I found the attestation papers by using a record agent researcher in the UK.  She went to the Archives office and found quite a few pages for me back in 2011, which was really helpful as far as finding where the family?? came from.  Well at least William was born there.  Dianna
