1911 Census Query
« on: Tuesday 27 July 21 08:40 BST (UK) »
Hi
Apologies if I'm in the wrong forum or in breach of anything please let me know

I have a family on this census but not sure how they are related, in particular Alice Taylor.
It states she is Sister-in-Law but unsure as to whether she is SIL to Alice Helps or her not listed husband (possibly Joseph Helps).
From what I'm researching these are boat people + Alice Taylor is possibly the daughter of the family I'm looking into. She was born Martha Alice Taylor Mar 1894, married in Apr 1912 + the address on this census is the same as on her marriage certificate, as is her witness Alice Helps.
I've found possible links to them all but struggling to tie them all together + hope fresh pairs of eyes might help!
Regards
Deb

Checking the mother's maiden name of the two youngest children, it seems Alice Helps was Alice nee Roberts. Have you checked the actual relationship of the Boulton couple to Alice Helps?
Also the term "in-law" was sometimes used to mean "step", although I think that was a bit earlier in the 19th century

I note from the bottom right of the image that Alice Helps had help (no pun intended  ;D) filling in the form. Maybe the relationships between household members got a bit confused.

Going back to the Boultons, I think Jame Boulton was James Knight Boulton b 1852, first marriage to Hannah Fisher Vaughan 1871 Nantwich district (possibly Crewe). Second marriage in 1906 in Runcorn. There is an Elizabeth Stokes and and a Mary Lizzie Walker on the same page. Most likely to be Elizabeth Stokes but an outside chance Mary Lizzie could have changed name to Elizabeth. Neither date ties in with the number of years married. I can find 4 children on 1891 census for James and Hannah.
Given the age of Elizabeth, she is possibly a widow so need to find maiden name. Hopefully Roberts or Taylor.
