Kay99. Agree very challenging.

I think it must be niece because also mentioned is Amelia Baylis, she was the sister of Harriot Spinks and so also a niece of Rebecca Spinks.

Also mentioned in the will is sister in law Amelia Spinks and nephew Thomas Spinks.

This all points to Rebecca and William Spinks being siblings. As previously advIsed there is a baptism of a Rebecca Spinks in 1789 to a Robert and Rebecca Spinks but i can't find a baptism of a William Spinks who died in Dec.1843 age 57 so born c1786.

Can anyone help in finding William's baptism to Robert and Rebecca please?

I can find on England Births & Baptisms 1538-1975  Baptisms of children of Robert and Rebecca in London

Thomas Gibson 1785 dies the same year
Rebecca 1789
Mary Ann 1791
Mariah 1794

And a poss marriage for Rebecca and Robert so there is space for a William pre 1785 :-\

Robert Spinks
Marriage year    1781
Spouse  Rebecca Ling
Place St Augustine Watling Street, City of London

Added - Robert is listed as a Widower

Kay, thank you for this additional information.

All these children of Robert & Rebecca are shown in baptism records but nothing of William which seems odd. More investigating needed I think.

The Baptisms were from the England Births & Baptisms 1538-1975 on F M P .   Any baptisms of the couple pre this date may just not have been found by this set of transcriptions

I found the 1861 Census entry for Augustus H Baylis b1820 in Thanet, Kent.
It also lists Amelia Baylis b1821 London
Amelia Spinks b1784 London
and Harriet Spinks b 1833 London.
Worth a look?

Ancestry has a baptism at St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey, 17 April 1787, of William "Speaks"
Parents Robert + Rebecca (ancestry say Rebeccah)

It is a very poor image, left side page is OK, but right side faint!
It might be Spinks? :-\
Father is a Fish Tackle Maker
There is a date of birth, can't make it out, either William or the entry above might have been born in 1786?
Living in Page something?
Sorry!

It is a one off event down there as far as I can see.
