Challenge - can these two photos be merged please. Thank you
« on: Wednesday 28 July 21 18:54 BST (UK) »
Many years ago I was given a photocopy of a photo that had appeared in either the Llanelli Star or Carmarthen Journal.

I was told that the photo was of my great great grandmother Elizabeth Beynon, outside her cottage - Penllain in Pontiets.

A few weeks ago I was sent a photo of Elizabeth standing outside the cottage but part of the photo that I have was missing. However their photo included a man with a horse and cart.

The photo which could quite possibly have been a postcard as many photographs of that era were. (It was so people could send the photos to loved ones.)

It has been suggested that I tried to find someone who is able to “merge” the two photos.

Does any kind person fancy the challenge of making the whole picture please.

It was probably taken in the early 1900s. Elizabeth passed away aged 91 in 1925.

Many thanks.

Thank you japeflakes and RJ137.

The photo looks a lot clearer now.  I am now wondering if that is my great grandmother Mary with her mother Elizabeth. If so it’s a double result.
I will have to study the younger woman more clearly as it could be my maternal grandmother. If so there are three generations in the photo.

Tanks again
Pam

Pam - had a go at merging the two photos. Expanding the small piece of photo, with the horse and cart and text on, to fit with the larger photo meant, for my software, the image had to be enlarged and and the bottom right hand corner had to be filled in/'photoshopped' :). At least this way the colour of the large photo could be blended in with the small piece.

Then tried it the other way larger photo merged with the small piece but my software unable to blend the small piece to match the large piece but they are joined, albeit in two different shades.

Then added the text into the bottom left corner. So 3 images for me.

Thank you Eggy1948, you are so skilled.

I don’t think it helped that I had to reduce the part of the photo without the horse and cart to a much smaller resolution and I don’t think the quality was that good either.

I am most grateful to everyone who is able to transform photos.
If only they had the technology we have in the 21st century back then when this photo was taken. The women seem totally transfixed with the “new toy” which obviously wasn’t familiar to them in their village, miles away from the nearest town.

Thank you once again.
Pam. 😊

A nice little challenge for an early morning

One from me. I would add colour but Photoshop has a known issue with the Nural Filter and I need to apply the workaround
