I think the bottom of the final letter is smudged ,so hard to tell if it is “c “or smudged “s “.
Logically “s “seems most likely.
Can’t find an artist only a modern one .
The colours are rather somber ,is it a watercolour or again chalk and charcoal
and if so, signed in yellow chalk would account for the smudging.
Just a thought but do you think it is “e” ,it looks very like the first “e”.
So Bliekene .

I think it's a Pastel not watercolor. The material is thicker than the watercolors art I have.

I don't like removing it from the frame much because it's so fragile. But, I removed it to take a better picture. I am attaching it here along with the signature in white for a better look.

Thanks.

A good shot but Im quite sure its not her. It's not her subjects. She was into world events, etc. Also, this is a piece I believe from the 1800's or maybe earlier.

""From 1972-1973 she exhibited by invitation paintings at the Suffern Art Show and Garden Club. Lisa expanded her painting to include mediums such as pencil, charcoal and ink, pastels, tempera, and watercolor. Her activities evolved into brilliant sculptures inspired by world events and her desire for world peace. She created many pieces depicting a passion for poignant moments in people's lives and current events around the world.""

May I ask what leads you to believe this work is from the 1800s or earlier?

To me it looks like an amateur work much more recent than the 1800s, though I don’t have the work in front of me to make an accurate judgement.

I don’t think that the style of signature, the subject matter or the medium suggest 1800s.

Karen’s suggestion looks good to me …. Although it may not be her usual subject matter, perhaps it is one of her early works, or a study piece.  :-\

I think Blickens is quite possible ,my mistake was in seeing the first” c “as an “e “.

The  smudged last letter as s is possibly correct.
The magnification is better on the later post.
