As you say, there is some conflicting information in some trees but John did marry again.

In 1881 we know that John is a widower with several children including Florence, a son, aged 6 yrs.

1891 4451/99/53.  As Morgan).

Ynysawdre, Glamorgan

John and Joana with previous Horgan children and younger ones with mother’s name Shea.

Marriage 1883 Pembroke
John Horgan and Johanna O’Shea are spouses  on the same page.

A puzzle - in 1901 and 1911 censuses, there seems to be a son Frederick b 1894/5 and daughter Lucy b 1897/I. I can’t find birth registrations for them.

Where do you have James as his father?
I don’t see any marriage certificates posted in the trees but these would show you his fathers name.

There is a death for James Horgan, 1865, Pembroke.

There is that burial  for James Horgan in 1866. His address, ‘Quay’.

I wonder ….

1861 4155 /16/26. (Transcribed as Oregan on Anc.)
Quay, Pembroke

Catharine Origan head married 50 yrs Hawker b Ireland
John -do- brother 23 yrs Hawker b Ireland
Cornelius -do- son 10 yrs b Ireland
Ellen Collins lodger
Mary Collins lodger

Odd re brother  :-\

Welsh newspapers online  26th June 1863 - Pembrokeshire Herald and General Advertiser
Cornelius Horgan about fifteen years, son of an Irish Marine Store Keeper,  charged with stealing.
James Horgan, father , charged with being an accessory but case dismissed against him.
Case withdrawn against Cornelius (and a female charged with him).

An earlier report, 1861, mentions a boy named Horgan, about thirteen years nearly drowned whilst playing on the Quay and was rescued.

16th October 1868
John Horgan, Ellen Hughes and Catherine Horgan (the two former being the son and daughter of the last named) marine store dealers, were charged with releasing a pony which had been impounded. They were dismissed.

So, maybe this is your John and he might be the son of Catherine and James, although he is down as brother in 1861.

1871 5514 /41/10

Cath Hoggan 66 yrs is a lodger.
Her address is East End which is where John and Mary lived.

I can’t see a death record for Catherine Horgan.
