My first cousins results.
« on: Friday 30 July 21 17:02 BST (UK) »
My first cousin, we are both female and
We share Grandparents.  Our Mothers were sisters.
She did a Ancestry DNA test hoping to trace relatives on her father's side , as her Grandfather and his Mother were both illegitimate.
The only matches she had were for her Grandmothers  family, this is the lady who married the illegitimate man. No relation to me. Nothing showed for her Mothers line.
I'm wondering if I have a test would it show any more on my Mothers side, given the fact nothing showed up for my cousin.
Sorry if this is a bit confusing.  ???

You cousin will only find relatives if they have had their DNA analysed on the same database as her, she could download her DNA to any of the free sites to help find more relatives.

You will have different DNA to your cousin but you should link up to her. Any relatives you both link to will be related to your shared family.

Thanks,  as far as I know she's only used Ancestry,  she's quite a novice really.
What are the Free Sites you mention.

GEDmatch, Family Tree DNA, Geneanet, My Heritage and one that's still not brilliant but say that it should be OK sometime in 20021 (they are very slow) My Living DNA
