abergele hospital
« on: Monday 02 August 21 08:24 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone.
I'm not sure if I have the correct part on this site.
I'm just wondering if anyone could help on something please.
My grandad Alfred Evan Jones. (Born in England)  1914.
He joined the army in 1939.classed as fit for the army.  In 1940 he was suddenly discharged classed as unfit for any military service.   Which I'm not sure why.
But my mum told me that her dad was in the same hospital as her in abergele hospital Wales.  From what I can understand. She said her dad's ward was back to back with hers.
My grandad went home from the hospital. But my mum stayed in because she had a plaster cast from her waste down. She had a TB spine.

What I'm trying to find out is why would my grandad Alfred Evan Jones be discharged from the army and sent to abergele hospital.
I don't know how to find out anything like this.
As I've been trying to find out other things  connected to myself and my mum.
I was in Conway for a short time. In 1960s. But I don't know why.
And I'm trying to find out about a photo of the children outside in the beds in abergele hospital.  Apparently my mum is one of the girls.

Anyway  if anyone can help me with anything I would really appreciate it.
I don't know what else to do.

Thank you again for your help and your time.

Dorothy

Dorothy - there is nothing in Alfred Evan's army records to confirm that he was admitted to hospital, anywhere.  His record does state that "Scar left  Inguinal Reg ???".

His records just state that he was "Discharged unfit for any form of Military Service - Para 383 (XVI) K.R." = a rubber stamp, and dated 10.4.40.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

Abergele Hospital was founded in 1910 by Manchester City Council to cater for children with tuberculosis.

Therefore not sure why Alfred Evan would have been admitted - nothing in his military records to suggest he had respiratory problems.
