Good Morning All
Thanks again everyone and River Tyne Lass for the link, which i did use. I did recieve a response-apparently the Tyne and Wear Archives have the burial and grave registers 1857-1998. So I will proceed with this.
Will keep you updated
Karen.

Hi Karen,

Just to be clear both Newcastle Local Studies  and Tyne and Wear Archives have the burial registers on microfilm for this cemetery.  These are two separate places.
The Archives will charge you.  The Newcastle Local Studies in the Newcastle City Library is providing a free service at the moment, using the form.  The latter's minimum charge is usually £30 in normal times.
Using the form it is the Newcastle Local Studies you will be applying to and not Tyne and Wear Archives.
Good luck with this!  Let us know how you get on. :)

Hi River Tyne Lass
I filled in another form and this is the response I got in full-
Hello Karen,
Thank you for your enquiry.
We do hold some indexes for burial and graveyard records for Jesmond for the dates in question, but they are very complex and time consuming.
We are only able to offer a 'quick fact check service' at the moment but I have looked at a couple of reels of film for you.  Unfortunately, I did not find either John or Hannah.
Hopefully, we will open are archives for public viewing very soon and you will be able to come and search for yourself.  Keep an eye on our website for up-to-date information.
Good luck with your research.
Kind regards,
Sue Murtagh
Heritage and Local Studies
I guess this will have to wait till I get to UK myself- I could be there a while- the family tree keeps growing!
Thank you for all your help everyone and take care
Karen.

Hi Karen,
I would contact them again and ask exactly which cemetery reels they looked at.
From the death notice the first cemetery I would look at is Jesmond Old Cemetery.
Failing this I would then move on to All Saints which is also in Jesmond.
These would be my top two to search.

However, other contenders might be
St Andrew & Jesmond Cemetery (but further to go from Byker).
Also some Byker people sometimes got buried at Byker and Heaton Cemetery and residents at the Catholic Homes sometimes were interred at Elswick.
If my work hours permit when the Local Studies eventually reopens I will try for you - but it might help to rule out which films they have looked at.

Hi
I am searching for my 2 x great grandmother Hannah McLane burial/death records. Hannah died 27th May 1900 at St Joseph's Home, run by Little Sisters of the Poor and was buried at St Dominic's Church in Byker. This information I have recieved from St Joseph's, but I have searched on Family Search, Find My Past and Ancestry with no luck. I have also done a search on the England and Wales General Register Office with nothing. How can I search for her?

Are you just looking for the burial record now, Karen?
Do you have the death certificate which shows her death at the home.
Is that right? Sorry, I am a bit confused as you were concerned about the age earlier.

Jesmond Old Cemetery burial indexes are freely available on Family Search.
I am happy to be corrected, but I can't see her name in either of the burial indexes.

https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/828520?availability=Family%20History%20Library

St Andrew's/Jesmond are also available on FS, and I can't see her there.

https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/828268?availability=Family%20History%20Library

The newspaper notice clearly says Jesmond, so my guess is that she is buried at Jesmond General Cemetery, now Newcastle General Cemetery.
Sadly not freely available on Family Search as far as I can see
