I see that Thomas born born Jan 29 1779 at Billesdon and apparently died in 1837... but it's unclear where that was. I checked the GRO and there is no listing like that for 1837 in England. Maybe he did die in Tasmania?

The Tasmanian Names Index has Thomas Loseby leaving Tasmania on 25th February 1837 on board the 'Hetty', destination Port Philip.

This link   https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/84775842?searchTerm=thomas%20loseby

seems to mention him with reference to the term of his penal servitude. So he was alive then.

I checked Australian deaths and don't see any Loseby from 1837 - 1880.

There's a notice in the Leicestershire Mercury for the death of Thomas Loseby, a bricklayer, aged 58, at Billesdon on 1st May 1837.
If it's the right man and he somehow got back to England, he unfortunately didn't last long  :-[

Thanks for all the input .I don’t think the bricklayer is the same Thomas Loseby .On his criminal record  it gives occupation as Woolcomber and Gardener. .I. think the Thomas on the Ship Hetty bound for Port Phillip may be him ,  What happened to him there ?   Really appreciate your help everyone look forward to any more info if found. On FindMyPast there's an entry in the Index to Death Duty Registers re Thomas Loseby who died in Billesdon in 1837. I think the executor's name is Jas. Loseby. Any help?
