Morning CaroleW, Albert was still on the voters register at the address in Westgate Road up until the year of his death so I think the business was still running then. As I mentioned in #7, I was thinking if Laura's will has a similar amount to Elizabeth's it might help confirm my theory.

Jonw65 that is brilliant, thank you very much, could I ask where you found that so I can add it to my notes (and of course learn from it).

Thanks again,

Michael

Hi
They are on FamilySearch, just indexes, I am afraid, but still useful.
Laura in 1981

Albert in 1859

North Shields Local Studies has the Journal/Evening Chronicle alphabetical death notices between the late 70s and early 2000+.  If Laura had a newspaper death notice her exact date of death should be on. I can check for you the next time I go.

Her death notice is in the Newcastle Journal 14 May 1981, page 2 col 2

She died 12th May

I think you have access to the online papers, if not I can transcribe the notice for you)

Morning RTL and Boo,

Thank you both for the help, I had done numerous newspaper searches but must have been doing them wrong as I  couldn't find anything.

Thanks for the help,

Michael

The card index boxes are much easier to check at the local studies.  I'll see if there is one next time I go.

As the OCR is often gobbledegook, its sometimes a case of either trawling through day by day for the entire quarter in which someone died (I am possibly the Olympic Champion at that)

OR, wait for someone such as jonw65 to post a clue and then you only need to look through a day or so :-) without John providing the date of cremation it could have taken me hours to find it.
