Gutter House/ New House or Ty Newydd
« on: Tuesday 30 August 05 23:33 BST (UK) »
Hi again

Can anyone give me any info on the following.  The house apparently had three names and was in or around St Harmon/Nantmel area.  It is now in ruins so I'm told but how bad it is, I don't know.  Any info would be appreciated and directions would be fantastic!

Thanks

There is a Ty Newydd or Newhouse south-west of Rhayader, above Llansantffraid cwmdeuddwr churchyard; could that be the one ? - it being as close to Nantmel and St Harmon as St Harmon is in relation to Nantmel. This was tenanted during the 19th century by a family Edwards, up to 1891, which had an Evans connection.

Hi Seviad
I came across New House recently when I was looking on maps around Llanbadarnfynydd. I think it lies between St Hamon and Llanbadarn (see Old maps of Radnorshire on this Radnorshire Board) also you can find it at approx grid ref: 305141,275536 on old-maps.co.uk - see attachment.
