Hope I'm not getting this wrong - your friend born in the 20's will now be in her nineties and her 'mother' would have died 20/30 ?? years ago - why has it taken your friend so long to start searching?

I doubt if midwives notes are still around - I don't think the actual date of birth will help - can't think of a reason why it would be changed.

I guess the central question is was your friend's 'mother' telling her the truth when she said that your friends birth parents were a couple she thought were her uncle and aunt?
Can't think why someone would make that up if she was nearing the end of her life.
