Hi Ladyhawk

I'm thinking that one is wife #2, Harriett? Will see if I can find it.

The mother of the mystery #3 is a Florence Shrives, that was also living with Frank and wife on Jubilee Rd.  I'm just transcribing the mourners, as there is some Shrives listed, initials only, but it might help.
Will post them soon!

Edited as Ladyhawk was absolutely right!

Wow, thanks to everyone who has been finding these newspaper articles.  ;D I shall look for those later on and get copies.

Certainly looks like the third marriage has been sorted out.

I shall certainly have plenty to tell my friend when we next meet.  :D

According to Freebmd, mmn is.... Shrives.

That newspaper article you found earlier gave her (bride's mother) initials as Mrs. E.M. Brooks.

GRO has no mmn for 1942.

So... Bessie liked to be called Mary E.,  and then E. Mary?

Hi
Good finds again!
There might be something about the marriage for GG in the Cheddar Valley Gazette, 26 March 1965
The OCR text may have mixed up a couple (or more!) different articles together?

10 August 1978 - Cheddar Valley Gazette - Wells, Somerset

Axbridge adults who have fond memories of Mrs. Brooks' story mornings she was captivating their imaginations over 25 years ago. Mrs. Brooks came to Axbridge nearly :30 years ago when she married her second husband, village born, Frank Brooks.

I don't think we have had that one, Ladyhawk!
Interesting about the "second husband"!

Not sure if this has been posted apologies in advance if I'm duplicating great finds by jonw65 & bbart -

Sorry don't have full access to article

Ladyhawk, you nailed it.  Not only is her name Elizabeth, but THERE IS A PICTURE OF HER.
You must be in cahoots with John.

So either she was a Shrives that married a Shrives, or she never married.

Principal family mourners were:
Mr. and Mrs. L. Shrives,
Mr. J. L. Shrives (sons and daughter-in-law),
Mr. and Mrs. F. Brookes (daughter and son-in-law),
Miss K. Shrives (grand daughter),
Mrs. R. Brookes, Mrs. H. Payne, Mrs. W. Tripp....

I just looked in the newspaper for the daughter.
There is a picture of her and new hubby.
and it states she was given away by her STEP-FATHER MR. F. BROOKES.

Always amazing what teamwork can do!

I just want to list one more article in case you don't find it.  It's a lovely article on the marriage of
Frank and Alberta, listing some relatives as well.

Weston-super-Mare Gazette, and General Advertiser 30 July 1910
