Windows start button not working
« on: Wednesday 18 August 21 22:36 BST (UK) »
Hi

Desktop computer working fine but the windows start button, bottom left hand corner, has just stopped working.  When clicked nothing happens.  Concerned that if I turn everything off, I won't be able to power up again.

Any help gratefully received.

tks

Have you tried the 'old-fashioned' Windows method of cursor to Top R/H corner to achieve the selections - including Start and Settings? The latter would result in getting Power button and Shut Down selection.

Google or any browser has ideas like these.  It doesn't look as though there is just a single cause or answer.

https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+start+button+not+working&oq=Windows+start+button+not+working&aqs=chrome.0.0i512l5.1382j0j7&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8

My advice would be to ask someone under 20, and don't do anything you don't understand.  That's what Him In The Shed tells me, anyway.

Success!!!

Tks to Copper1, Harriet and Him in The Shed for the prompt and helpful replies.  Just needed to select windows explorer in task manager and click on restart.

Simples - and such a relief!
