What is this alias and why would they have one?
« on: Saturday 21 August 21 14:19 BST (UK) »
Hey all!
Please see the last record. The surname is Jeffery but I can't decipher the alias.
Bonus question: Why might folk have an alias?

Thank you all very much!!

P.S. I tried to attach a png/jpg but the file was too big, hence the pdf.

There can be many reasons, just a few examples.

An Alias is often used when someone is born illegitimate so is known by the mother’s surname, then if she marries they take her new married name. The same if a widow remarries, the children are often take the step-father’s name.

Sometimes a child is taken in by another family and becomes known by their name.
