I've been staring at this for ages, but can't get further than Xxxxhändler.
So some sort of dealer/trader. But in what?!  ???

The first letter looks the same as the "L" in "Louis", but I am racking my brains and getting nowhere.

davecapps, where are you?!  ;D

Best regards,
Karen

Still pondering this one.

There was a Louis Delion who was a Buchhändler (bought & sold books) in Heiligenstadt in 1889.

Hmmm...

Hey, Justin! I was just sending this reply when the Red Message appeared...  ;D
You beat me to it.
I just couldn't see it as a "B". The "ch" bit was clear, but the rest had me stumped.  ::)

Now I can see that what I thought was the second letter is actually the little squiqqle that distinguishes a "B" from an "L".

And the circle with a possible dot in it threw me! I wonder whether the circle actually represents a crossing-out of a dot which should not be there.  ???

I often read the B as an L at the first glance.

The "non umlaut" symbol over the u can also be tricky, but in this case the umlaut on the a is so clear, the letter before c had to be u rather than ü.

I wasn't sure if it was a non-umlaut. I had never seen one so circular.  ;D
Wieder was gelernt.
At least the question has been solved!  :)

Thank you Karen and Justin. Your help is much appreciated.
I had also been reading B as L,
