Bice Clemow was an interesting character - editor of the West Hartford [Connecticut] News.  I especially liked this anecdote from his obituary:

"During Gov. Ella T. Grasso's election campaign, Clemow wrote that she had to do something about her personal appearance. "If you're going to be the queen, you should dress like a queen,'' he wrote in a column.  After Grasso's victory, a penitent Clemow offered to make the inaugural dress because "that was the least a whipped editor could do after the public had said so loudly they didn't care how casually a good governor clothed herself.''  He barely got the dress finished in time, delivering it to Grasso just minutes before she was due at a luncheon, preceding her swearing-in."
