Familysearch changes!
« on: Wednesday 01 September 21 08:29 BST (UK) »
I logged into Familysearch last week and was able to search "records" in the usual way, this morning I logged in again and I'm not able to see the "map" and select country and go from there.
Now it gives me a completely different home page which, I feel isn't enough for a detailed search.

Probably ok if you have never used the site before but when you are used to the old way of searching  :o

I haven't tried the catalogue yet. Fingers crossed they haven't tampered with that too!

No problems for me this morning, search was as normal.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

ok.... so I have found a small link "browse all collections" under Find a Collection on the left hand side

This will take you back to the old way of drilling down to the record collection you want to search...

I stopped getting the map  a few weeks ago . It flashes up briefly but then shows  the new page. I just use the selection panel on the right.

I prefer it to the map  :)

Thanks Gadget,
It was just a bit of a shock this morning. I'm ok now with it.

This is what I see now... Gadget, the image you have clipped is the same as I was seeing last week. No search location fields until you click on "Browse all collections"

It has not changed for me (yet  ;D ). The link I normally use is the same one given in your post, I still have the map but have never used it.
