Cain family
« on: Sunday 05 September 21 10:03 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm new here and I'm looking for some information about the Cain family in Urlingford. Thomas and Mary Cain (nιe O Brien) and their daughter Margaret Cain (who I believe to be my grandmother). Anyone know if any Cain family are still around? Much appreciation in advance for any info on the Cains in Kilkenny.

I think if you add some dates that these people were born or died, you might find someone can help.
Do you have a year of birth for your grandmother?
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)

Hi,

Yes ha that might help alright! Margaret Cain was born 1930's no idea if she is still alive but I did find a notice on rip.ie for a Margaret Kane from St Marys Ave so I would assume it was the same person. I'm looking to see if there was any family in that area still who are Cain/Kane. I believe she might have had a daughter. Her father Thomas Cain would have been born in 1891.

Hello and welcome  :)

Is this your family - Thomas Cain (signature),  Keane on entry and Margaret Brien in 1924?

Births are not online after 1920 but looking at the indexes here, there is a Margaret born 1935 with mother O’Brien and some other likely births to this couple.

Here is that Thomas, I think, in 1911 with his parents and siblings. Does it fit with what you know?

If this is Thomas, as found by heywood, then this was his sister Ellen born in 1897.....MMN Mahoney
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1897/02138/1812122.pdf

This leads to a marriage in 1882 of Thomas Keane and Mary Mahony in Urlingford RC Church.
