Father's Occupation?
« on: Wednesday 08 September 21 21:44 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have recently obtained a marriage certificate for my grandparents, from 1932. Although it's relatively recent, I'm having trouble deciphering entry for the profession of one of the fathers.

It could possibly be Nil or Mil ... or something completely different?

Thank you for looking!

Hi,

Not a very clear iimage.

Have you looked to see if he is on 1939 register which gives occupations.  If already in the military he will not be listed.

Do you know if he was still alive at that point?  (In case it's a scrawl for dec'd)

Was it the bride or grooms father?

It's really impossible to tell what this is from this tiny blurred image,
It would be better to post a slightly larger clip showing more words, so that the style of writing and letter formation can be looked at.

Hello,
Thanks all for your suggestions.
I know the image is poor, but the original was too big to upload!
It was the groom's father - I'm not sure if he was still alive.... trying to find that out now.
Thanks again,
Fi
