Help with word please

Is anyone able to help me please with a word I am stuck on?

From the picture it says Polson advocate of ? now in new Kirk parish

what document is this taken from? When & where?

Its a marriage record between Alexander Laing and Charlotte Polson 1772 Edinburgh from ScotlandsPeople website. John Polson, her father, is the one that is the advocate of that word.
