Lydia Ann was admitted to the Pontypridd workhouse as an orphan in 1904 and stayed there 10 years before being sent out to work as  a servant. She was back two weeks later. She appears to be in an institution in 1939

Hermit doesn't seem to have much connection with his children

Forgot to say Merthyr Guardians were very disgruntled at the irregular nature of Alfred's birth registration and the problems of trying to correct it. They also note the child takes on his mother's religious creed so should be recorded as CofE. Lydia's creed is Independent

Hi

It seems Joseph Haydn Felton was more fortunate in ending up with his uncle and aunt. Now we have correct parentage for Joseph is anyone able to now identify the exact relationship between his “uncle and aunt”

“Joseph Haydn Felton is show with Edward Rees (70), Jane Rees (69), Maggie Rees (46) and Willie Mills  (12) in 1911. All born Montgomeryshire except for Joseph. Joseph is shown as nephew and Willie Mills as adopted son”

would have helped if I'd looked at Edward Rees as well. It can't be him witnessing the marriage in 1841.

But his wife Jane was one of the children of Humphrey & Catherine and the brother of John Davies who was the father of Catherine and grandfather of Joseph Haydn Felton.
