Hughes family,
« on: Monday 13 September 21 08:04 BST (UK) »
Patrick Hughes and Elizabeth Brady lived in Aghaloo, Auchnacloy and had children Thomas b. 1862/Henry b. 1865/Patrick b. 1866/Mary Jane b. 1858 and Michael who was their first born and I couldn’t find his birth. I can find no trace of any of these children. At some point the Hughes family moved to Dromore, Co. Tyrone but I cannot find them there either.

All I have is that Michael married Sarah Conlon and Mary Jane married, but I don’t know who. My wife’s family came from the children of Thomas Hughes, who could possibly have been the only family member who settled in Dromore. I really don’t know where the others went.

Have you looked at the 1901 & 1911 census?

What religion were they?

What was the name of Thomas wife?

I think there is a wee bit work you can do for yourself....
these are useful sites:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/
https://www.familysearch.org/search/

As a rough rule of thumb you should start with your wife
search for her birth and note who registered her
note who she noted as her parents on the marriage certificate
search for her Mother (death first is easier I have found) then working back to the marriage and then birth.
Do the same for her father

While doing this note the names of any brothers or sisters and the names. Many Irish people followed Irish naming patterns.
father
Look at the wedding of the mother/father as that should have the names of the parents

Yes, indeed he did. They married in Whitehill, I think, from memory.

There was a lot of migration at that time. They could have gone to England, Scotland or USA & Canada. Did you find Michael & Sarah on the census records?

There was a marriage in 1892, Aughnacloy, of a Henry Hughes to Mary Ann Bradly. The witness was a Thomas Hughes. The only problem is the father's name is John.
