Also the J'Ony or L'ony surname could be French Huguenot, it would make sense as there were many who settled in Westminster in the late 1600s as well as Spitalfields.

Martha J'Ony who married John Hollamby was of St Olave Hart Street when she married 20 August 1771 by license.
Witness John J'Ony and Susanna J'Ony.

When John J'Ony married Susanna also at St Olave Hart Street, one witness was Martha J'Ony

Looks as though they may be brother and sister.

There is a will of Susanna J'Ony widow of St Olave probated April 1765, mentions daughters Mary Horton and Sarah Thrup? they get her wearing apparel. Balance to be divided equally between her children living at the time of her decease, no names listed. Executors are son Francis J'Ony and Grandson John J'Ony of Mark Lane.

Could this be your John?

Ref: ancestry Indexed as Jony

Hello! I am a descendant of George Hassan and Margaret Candly, and their daughter Elizabeth Hassan born 1757!
I believe the younger George Hassan could be his son.

I came across Iony LíOny marriage and gave it a google search and came across your post! JíOny! I donít know how to contact you directly on this website but Iíll keep checking to see if you message me, Iíd love to connect.

My 6xGreat Grandmother Elizabeth Hassan married William Rupert Davids who I think was Ashkenazi Jewish. Some of my family that have done DNA kids have Ashkenazi and Iranian DNA in equal amounts. I have a feeling itís from the Davids and Hassans.

Hope to chat soon,
Best wishes, Emily
