Alexander Cameron Mackenzie
« on: Thursday 16 September 21 02:07 BST (UK) »
Alexander is my mothers cousin. He was born on 22nd May 1935 at 37 Carfin Street in Govanhill which I think would have been in Cathcart back then. His mother and father were William and Christina Ella Née Armstrong. I can find no trace of Alexander or his father William. I do know Christina Ella died of cancer in a hospice in Clydebank in 1954. I’m seeking any information on the family. I also know they lived at 80 Niddrie Road when Christina Ella passed away.

Welcome to Rootschat  :D

I'm guessing that this name is probably a common one.

Scotland's People shows a marriage in 1980 followed by a divorce in 1989.  The registration district for the marriage is Buckie.  The divorce court was Elgin.

You can order the marriage certificate from Scotland's People but whether this is your Alexander or not I couldn't say.  If that is him he would have been 45 when he married.

I can't see any likely death as Alexander Cameron Mackenzie.

Welcome to Rootschat

As he was only born 1935 & no death found - he could still be alive.  Rootschat has a strict “no living persons” policy so his name needs to be removed from your post

I think this is William's death, age 76, in 1981, MMN McLean., Glasgow, Martha St.

From his marriage to Christina, in Gretna, in 1934, his parents are Alexander, Stone Mason & Jean McLean.

There is a marriage of an Alexander to a Jeanie McLean, 1902, Port of Menteith

I think this may be him on the 1911 census, age 6,  in Dumbarton with mother, Jane, 32, & siblings, Jane, 7, & James, 3.  (correction, Not them)
Added:
This is them: 1911, Port of Menteith, Alexander, 38, Mary, 37, William, 5, Sarah J.F. 8, Mary McGregor, 7. Alexander, born Sutherland, Mary, Kincardineshire, William, Port of Menteith, Sarah, Whiteinch, Mary, Kincardineshire.
Alexander remarried, 1908 to Mary McGregor, Dornoch.

Out of interest, Christina's parents were James Armstrong (Shepherd) & Helen McKenzie, married 1903 Blair Atholl, Perthshire.

Added:
Christina was born, Wemyss, Fife, 1911

Think I should expand for everybody. Didn’t realize the rule on living people. My birth granny is Mary Ann Armstrong, she delivered my mother Ella Christina out of wedlock at 37 Carfin st, this was her sister Christina Ella’s home. My mother was born a couple of months after Alexander and I wondered if he kept in touch with my birth granny Mary Ann. I know she was married twice, to James Innes and Edmund Forsyth (probably bigamously) in perthshire. I’ve chatted with Innes family members and Forsyth family members but they had no info other than confirming they knew who she was. Trying to find Survivors of Mary Ann Armstrong’s family. She was born in 1908 in Fife, died 1998 in Perth. Worked as a housemaid at the home of Archibald Neville Mclellan at Woodlands terrace in Glasgow fro about 1932 to 1936. She moved to Crieff after my mother was adopted and married James Innes there in 1937.

1911 census, Wemyss, has James Armstrong, 26, Helen, 29, John, 5, & Mary Ann, 2. Christina not born yet.

John McKenzie Armstrong, born 1905, Kingussie, died age 89,  1995, Perth. MMN McKenzie

Mary Ann Armstrong, born 1908,  Kirkcaldy, died age 90,  1998, Perth. MMN McKenzie

Mary Ann married James Michael Innes, Crieff, 1937. James died Crieff, age 60 in 1974.

James may have remarried to a Nora Ann Gibb, Perth, 1959. After a divorce from Mary Ann????

Mary Ann married Edmund John P Forsyth, Perth, 1958. Edmund died Perth, age 95 in 1992
