John Henry Humphreys

Any tips/ advice how to finally work out who my 2 x Great Grandfather John Henry Humphreys was.

This is as much as I know:

He was born about 1862 in either Ludlow or Wolverhampton & died in 1912 in Bromley Union Infirmary.

I can find him on the following census’:

1891

He is married to my 2 x Great Grandmother Emma Elizabeth Green and they had 5 kids whom I can find. But no wedding record for him & Emma and not sure how to work out how he ended up in Penge/Bromley. Any tips would be much appreciated.

I have found John Henry Humphreys on the

1891 Census living at 70 Arthur Road Beckenham

1901: Again Arthur Road Beckenham

1911: Living at Beckenham Road Penge. Note this Census does not state how long he & Emma have been married.

If there’s a way I can copy/share the Census entries more clearly let me know.

If you look at the 1911 entry - the section re number of years married has been left blank

In 1891 he is 29 b Wolverhampton (1862 - & Humphries)
1901 he is 42 b Ludlow Salop (1859 & Humphreys)
1911 he is 53 b Ludlow (1858 & Humphreys)

If we assume he was born Ludlow - there are no births on freebmd but failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874

freebmd has an 1857 birth in Wolverhampton as Humphreys and an 1862 birth in Wellington as Humphreys

The 1912 death is Humphreys and he was 53 (Sept qtr) so 1858/59
