Lots of news since I last wrote…

LM - so good to hear you’d had a wonderful time with your cousins and between you hopefully you can sort out your grandfather once you get your DNA test results…. We’re all dying to hear how it turns out…very exciting..

Viktoria- sorry to hear you’re having problems with your legs and hope your doctors allayed your worry…
I bet your SiL was over the moon with his Spitfire flight… such magical planes… Duxfords not far from me… friend of our has been up to East Kirby for a day with a Lancaster…

MH - hope your foot is better for it’s extra day of rest today…. Not good for dancing on when it’s like that and painful I’m sure… hope your H is waiting on you hand and foot… excuse the pun!….

Well had my day at The Chelsea Flower show today with my daughter ( her pressie to me) we had a wonderful time, saw loads of beautiful plants, some beautiful gardens… although you can’t get as near as you’d like for long… too many people 😢. Standing in the queue for a coffee I looked along the line of people to see a friend from our village… all those people there too we did have a laugh about it…Weather was glorious, feet very tired now…
didn’t stay overnight with our daughter as boys have either class mates or year group children tested positive with covid ( 4-11yr age range)… although us and them all negative didn’t want to risk it… sadly missing the boys running in the Ealing mini mile tomorrow.

This is a picture of the plant of the year…. Think I might have found something more stunning but what do I know… diddly squat about plants 😂😂. It’s called Eternal Flame

Caroline

Opps sorry folks… don’t know how to put them the right way up 😩😬

Hope your foot is improving MH, also the problem with your legs Viktoria. The Spitfire flight sounds fantastic.
Good to hear your get together went well LM, always good to let someone else do the cooking!
Caroline, your day at the flower show sounds terrific. I must say I agree with you about the plant of the year  - seriously underwhelming!

The good news for me is that this week I've been able to taste more foods- fish, eggs, even broccoli. I've been able to taste spicy things for a few weeks but not the depth of flavour. Despite that I felt that I was making good progress this week so I included a couple of those small bottles of wine in my grocery order. I didn't want to open a full size bottle to test myself so these would be less wasteful. Last night I opened one and poured half a glass, expecting that my taste improvement would include this. Sadly, not so.  :'( :'(  I could taste a slight tang of something but otherwise it was like water and I ended up pouring it away. Ah well, Rome wasn't built in a day.  :'(

Great to hear all the news, especially the Spitfire flight and Chelsea outing. I loved going to Duxford over the years off and on and saw a piece about their Battle of Britain weekend so I'd quite like to go to that one day as I've never been. I've been watching Chelsea on the tv and I didn't like the look of the crowds. I wonder if I'll ever get used to crowds again!
I've finally got some antibiotics as I've had a too long lasting classic sinusitis ( negative covid as I checked) . No doctors appointments available so had to do an e consult form for the first time . They reply within 48 hours and I got an email saying the prescription had been sent to the pharmacy by a doctor I'd never heard of. It was a weird form which to me as an ex administrator had a strange logic to its flow about what you told them when, but it was clearly an algorithm where if you gave a key word, it'd direct you off in one direction or another. I'd have much preferred to talk to a person even if over the phone but I have the abx so that's all that matters if it sorts it out. Haven't had sinusitis for years but used to get it a lot when younger.
Hope every one stays well .

Oh ,that is a pity Roobarb, how disappointing.
Sinusitis mhmm, a student who trained with me , suffered badly, she had regular “wash outs” -they sounded horrendous to me but she looked to be really suffering when it was really bad.

Just read the blurb with my Pravastatins and zEzetimibe and both give muscle pains, weakness, and so perhaps are contributing to the leg pains .
Other side effects too ,like itching . My back drives me mad ,always poking a long knitting needle down it to scratch.

MH, Do you think a tiny bone in your foot could be broken?
They are very tiny .
Do let us know what transpires Louisa Maude re your grandfather.

Glad you enjoyed Chelsea ,and yes,Caroline, the plant  you posted a picture of does seem insignificant .
Well an early night tonight I think ,I sit up doing crosswords etc and it was three o’clock the other day!
Keep well everyone,
Viktoria.

Viktoria, I do washouts every day as advised by ent specialists. It's a bit weird at first but it does help keep you healthy - I get far fewer ent issues since I started a few years ago. Obviously it doesn't stop all germs getting through. Full sinusitis is not pleasant at all , especially the referred pain into the top jaws - like toothache but in every top tooth both sides. Plus when it's in full throw, you can't do the washouts as there's nowhere for the washout to go as everything is so blocked up. Anyway the abx are helping .

Pleased to hear your gift of the Chelsea visit went well Caroline, small world isn't it when you're well away from home but see local folk and I've had that happen in and out of the country a few times. The Cercis would possibly have some appeal as a specimen tree in a smaller garden, know the 'Forest Pansy' variety is quite popular here for the rich wine coloured foliage, imagine it could look nice with the range of leaf colour. Same genus, the Judas tree flowering now and there is a very big and very old one fenced off for protection in a fairly nearby town that I usually would see but only a photo from niece this year out on her walk. I am lucky to have a good selection of walks in my own neighbourhood but the paths are definitely busier than usual and I've plenty to get stuck into at home without venturing out. Place not ready to make home and garden magazine by a long shot and progress on awaiting tasks has been slower than would have liked, could try harder to apply self more efficiently but happy enough with what has been tackled so far along with hobbies etc.
Last week shopping trip for essentials really good, again at dinner time and was lovely and quiet but had noticed queues in the drive through at the fast food places we passed on the way there. Enjoyed the first bunch of fresh asparagus for the season, was a bit pricey but very nice.
A run of birthdates of family and friends again, the week ended with clocks going forward early hours of Sunday NZ time … and we're into the new week thread...
