Family Search puts Devon non-conformist records under Essex
« on: Monday 20 September 21 21:51 BST (UK) »
Just wonder if anyone else is using 'England, Essex Non-Conformist Church Records, 1613-1971' on FamilySearch. This dataset was updated today but also contains French Huguenot records for Devon (i.e. East Stonehouse and Plymouth). Has anyone else come across this issue?

About a year ago, I discovered a large quantity of OPR burial records for Ayrshire Scotland recorded and indexed by FamilySearch as New Zealand. !!  I don’t understand how such a ridiculous error can occur.
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)

And there's little point in raising it with them. You just get told the datasets aren't theirs and so aren't their responsibility.

The datasets may not be theirs but surely the fact that familysearch has put them in the wrong collection on their website under the wrong category is their problem.

Just adding a link to an example of this error

That's a good example of the issue as the transcript actually says 'Devon'. FS has been contacted. Will put their reply here if/when we hear back from them.

 ;D;D

I just tried using the 'feedback button' and highlighting a portion and got a row of smileys to select.

Let us know how you get on with reporting this error, I might try to report a database error I am aware of following those other instructions later,

Contacting Ancestry or FamilySearch to report issues is like trying to find the iceberg that sunk the Titanic. You will have a hell of a job as the berg melted shortly after as if went further south, and became seawater.

I don't bother reporting anything to Ancestry but do have success with FindMyPast  :). It will be interesting to see if familysearch does do anything.
