Mixture of "h"s in a 1639 Will
« on: Wednesday 22 September 21 06:24 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I would like to know if the underlined name in the attached is John Hugh or John Pugh. There are several variations of "H' and "h" in the script and I can't decide which name is correct.

There is also a strange version of "five pounds and ??? shillings" that I would like to decipher!

Your help will be appreciated

Best regards!

Hello Vance Mead

Yes, I think that's right!

The "h" in John is the same as the "h" in Hugh

The rest is clear now that you have deciphered it!

Best regards
